NSSF is a compulsory scheme providing a wider range of benefits which are based on internationally accepted standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>NSSF covers the following categories of employers and employees:-<\/p>\n<p>A. \u00a0Private Sector which includes:-<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Companies<\/li>\n<li>Non-governmental organizations<\/li>\n<li>Embassies employing Tanzanians<\/li>\n<li>International organizations<\/li>\n<li>Organized groups in the informal sector<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>B. \u00a0Government ministries and departments employing non-pensionable employees.<\/p>\n<p>C. \u00a0Parastatal organizations<\/p>\n<p>D. \u00a0Self-employed or any other employed person not covered by any other scheme<\/p>\n<p>E. \u00a0Any other category as declared by the Minister of Labour<\/p>\n<h5><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Schemes_Financing\"\/>Scheme\u2019s Financing<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h5>\n<p>The scheme is financed through contributions at the rate of 20% of employees\u2019salary. The employer is required to deduct from employee\u2019s gross salary the amount of contribution not exceeding 10% of the employee\u2019s salary. The employer adds the remaining balance to make the required contribution rate of 20%.<\/p>\n<h5><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Scheme_Investment\"\/>Scheme Investment<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h5>\n<p>NSSF is a fully funded scheme running under defined benefit principles. All funds collected are wholly invested for the purpose of financing benefit payments.<\/p>\n<h5><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Schemes_Benefits\"\/>Scheme\u2019s Benefits<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h5>\n<p>The scheme provides seven benefits which are categorized as long term benefits and short term benefits as follows;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Long Term Benefits\/Pensions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Retirement Pension<\/li>\n<li>Invalidity Pension<\/li>\n<li>Survivor\u2019s Pension<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Short Term Benefits\/Pensions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Funeral Grant<\/li>\n<li>Maternity Benefit<\/li>\n<li>Employment Injury Benefit<\/li>\n<li>Health Insurance Benefit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pension is a term which expresses all long-term benefits offered by the scheme.
