The University of Leeds in the UK invites applications for the Bonamy Dobree School of English PGR International Scholarship in the 2020\/21 session.<\/p>\n
The School of English is offering a fully-funded International scholarship. This award is normally for up to three years\u2019 full-time study leading to a Doctoral Degree. This is on condition of satisfactory progress, reviewed at the end of the first academic year.<\/p>\n
Bonamy Dobr\u00e9e, Professor of English at Leeds 1936-55, is today best known for his work on Restoration and eighteenth-century literature, and for a notable study of Kipling. From the 1920s as a journalist, theatre critic and literary scholar, he was on the fringes of the Bloomsbury group, a close friend of T. S. Eliot, Leonard Woolf, and Herbert Read. At Leeds he is remembered as a supportive teacher and mentor, and his papers now in the Brotherton Library have proved a valuable resource for scholars.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Bonomy Dobr\u00e9e Scholarship offers full international fees and \u00a312,000 of maintenance for three years (subject to satisfactory academic progress).<\/p>\n
