The Academy is responsible for addressing issues and challenges faced by the citrus industry, namely scarce and critical skills; quality of skills delivery; black economic empowerment; employment equity and low production skills levels.<\/p>\n<p>In 2006, the Academy founded the Citrus Academy Bursary Fund and is now the biggest private bursary fund in primary agriculture, as well as one of the biggest in the primary sector.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ABOUT_THE_BURSARY_PROGRAMME_%E2%80%93_FIELDS_COVERED\"\/>ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME \u2013 FIELDS COVERED<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h3>\n<p>Citrus Academy bursaries will be awarded to those pursuing the following qualifications, from second year of study onwards:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plant Pathology<\/li>\n<li>Plant Production<\/li>\n<li>Microbiology<\/li>\n<li>Soil Science<\/li>\n<li>Entomology<\/li>\n<li>Horticulture<\/li>\n<li>Crop Production<\/li>\n<li>Agricultural Production Management<\/li>\n<li>Agricultural Management<\/li>\n<li>Agricultural Economics<\/li>\n<li>Mechanical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Industrial Engineering<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"MORE_ABOUT_THE_BURSARY_PROGRAMME_%E2%80%93_COVERAGE_VALUE_SERVICE_CONTRACT\"\/>MORE ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME \u2013 COVERAGE VALUE &amp; SERVICE CONTRACT<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h3>\n<p>The bursary award will cover the following expenses: tuition fees, prescribed books, stationery, accommodation on campus and research costs (for postgraduate students).<\/p>\n<p>Undergraduate, diploma and certificate students are required to undertake vacation work each year, for a minimum period of 4 weeks.<br \/>On completion of their studies, students will be required to take up employment within the citrus industry, for a period of time equal to their bursary award.<\/p>\n<p>Shortlisted candidates will be contacted \u2013 should you not receive any feedback by the middle of December, regard your application as unsuccessful.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ELIGIBILITY_REQUIREMENTS\"\/>ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h3>\n<p>Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>South African citizen\/ Zimbabwean citizen\/ Swaziland citizen<\/li>\n<li>Completed Matric<\/li>\n<li>Strong academic record<\/li>\n<li>Studying towards one of the aforementioned agricultural qualifications<\/li>\n<li>Studying full time or part time at a recognised South African tertiary institute (University\/ University of Technology\/ College)&lt;<\/li>\n<li>Disabled students are welcome to apply<\/li>\n<li>*Preference will be given to females and previously disadvantaged students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Selection criteria will be based on the following factors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Previously disadvantaged status<\/li>\n<li>Field of study<\/li>\n<li>Academic record<\/li>\n<li>Proven financial need<\/li>\n<li>Background relevant to the citrus industry<\/li>\n<li>Gender<\/li>\n<li>Disability status<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" citrus industry, how you will give back to the citrus industry and citrus enterprise when you have completed your studies (max 500 words)<\/li>\n<li>Details of your proposed research project
