{"id":8031,"date":"2022-06-26T18:42:49","date_gmt":"2022-06-26T18:42:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uptymes.com\/edu\/overseas-research-scholarships-at-university-college-london-in-uk-2020\/"},"modified":"2022-06-26T18:42:49","modified_gmt":"2022-06-26T18:42:49","slug":"overseas-research-scholarships-at-university-college-london-in-uk-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uptymes.com\/edu\/overseas-research-scholarships-at-university-college-london-in-uk-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Overseas Research Scholarships at University College London in UK 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>University College London invites applications for Overseas Research Scholarships to attract high-quality international students to undertake research in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately\u00a035 UCL-ORS awards are available annually.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Worth_of_Award\"\/><strong>Worth of Award<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p\">The scholarships consist of fee funding to cover the difference between Overseas and UK\/EU tuition fees.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p\">UCL-ORS recipients who do not have any other fee funding will receive additional UCL funding to cover the UK\/EU tuition fees for the duration of the ORS award.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p\">The award does not cover the Additional Fee Element (AFE) of your programme (if applicable), unless you are also awarded a UCL GRS award.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p\">Awards are tenable for years 1, 2, and 3 of a full-time MPhil\/PhD\/EngD degree programme (or years 1 to 5 of a part-time programme), subject to annual review and renewal.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p\">Where students are undertaking an integrated\u00a0four-year doctoral programme the award will be extended to their final year of study.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p\">If granted, funding begins at the start of the next academic session.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Eligibility\"\/><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p\">Applicants must be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p\">\u00a0in receipt of an offer of admission to, or currently registered at, UCL on a full- or part-time research degree programme and;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p\">\u2013 holding or expecting to achieve at least an upper second-class\u00a0Honours UK undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p\">liable to pay tuition fees at the overseas rate (Overseas fees status).<\/li>\n<li class=\"p\">Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence and research potential. Financial circumstances are not taken into account.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Apply\"\/><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p\">In order to apply for a GRS, you must complete the following steps:<\/p>\n<p class=\"heading\"><strong>Step 1 \u2013 Apply for admission to UCL<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p\">The following instructions apply to prospective students \u2013 current students already enrolled on their research degrees can proceed directly to Step 2.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p\">You must submit a complete application for admission onto a research degree programme by the specified deadline.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p\">You do not need to have secured an offer of a place at UCL in order to apply for the scholarship,\u00a0<strong>but you must have submitted your admission application<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"heading\"><strong>Step 2 \u2013 Submit your scholarship application documents to your department<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p\">The mandatory documents are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"disc\">\n<li><strong>Research Scholarship cover sheet<\/strong>\u00a0(download the\u00a0Research Scholarship cover sheet) *Using Firefox or Internet Explorer is recommended<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"disc\">\n<li><strong>CV\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Please make sure your CV is up to date and lists all publications, past\/current prizes, awards and scholarships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"disc\">\n<li><strong>A lay summary<\/strong>\u00a0of your research proposal, on a Word or PDF document (max. 200 words). The proposal should be written by you, not your supervisor or any other member of academic department staff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"disc\">\n<li><strong>Academic transcripts<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Please ensure that each academic transcript submitted includes clarification on the grading scale\/range of grades possible for that degree.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"disc\">\n<li><strong>2 References\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013\u00a0<strong>Reference number 1 should relate to your most recently completed university programme\/degree<\/strong>\u00a0(or the one you intend to complete, if applicable) and can be the same referee who submitted a reference as part of your admission application. Please use this\u00a0Reference Form for reference number 1<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reference number 2 should relate to your current or intended research programme\/project<\/strong>, for which you are seeking funding. This reference MUST be provided by your research supervisor at UCL. If you are a prospective student and your supervisor has not yet been allocated, please contact your department to confirm who your UCL supervisor will be.
