As one of the South African government\u2019s departments, the DWS is responsible for the water resources of the country, particularly for formulating and implementing policies within the sector.<\/p>\n<p>The DWS aim to ensure that South African have access to clean water and sanitation services, as well as water resources management for ensuring sustainable economic and social development in the country.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ABOUT_THE_BURSARY_PROGRAMME_%E2%80%93_FIELDS_COVERED\"\/>ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME \u2013 FIELDS COVERED<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h3>\n<p>The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) have established a Learning Academy, whose aim it is to help students complete their tertiary students within the water and sanitation field, which is a scarce skills sector in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The DWS will be awarding bursaries in the following fields of study:<br \/><strong>Undergraduate:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Civil Engineering (BSc\/ BEng\/ National Diploma)<\/li>\n<li>Electrical Engineering (BSc\/ BEng\/ National Diploma)<\/li>\n<li>Mechanical Engineering (BSc\/ BEng\/ National Diploma)<\/li>\n<li>Hydrology (BSc)<\/li>\n<li>Geohydrology (BSc)<\/li>\n<li>Water Economics (BSc)<\/li>\n<li>Project Management (BSc)<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Management (BSc)<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Sciences (BSc)<\/li>\n<li>Environmental and Water Sciences (BSc)<\/li>\n<li>Water Care (National Diploma)<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Management (National Diploma)<\/li>\n<li>Biochemistry (National Diploma)<\/li>\n<li>Land Surveying (National Diploma)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Postgraduate:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Civil Engineering (BSc\/ BEng (Hons))<\/li>\n<li>Electrical Engineering (BSc\/ BEng (Hons))<\/li>\n<li>Mechanical Engineering (BSc\/ BEng (Hons))<\/li>\n<li>Hydrology (BSc (Hons))<\/li>\n<li>Geohydrology (BSc (Hons))<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Management (BSc (Hons))<\/li>\n<li>Water Economics (BSc (Hons))<\/li>\n<li>Project Management (BSc (Hons))<\/li>\n<li>Environmental Sciences (BSc (Hons))<\/li>\n<li>Environmental and Water Sciences (BSc (Hons))<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"MORE_ABOUT_THE_BURSARY_PROGRAMME_%E2%80%93_COVERAGE_VALUE_SERVICE_CONTRACT\"\/>MORE ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME \u2013 COVERAGE VALUE &amp; SERVICE CONTRACT<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h3>\n<p>Bursaries are awarded each year and renewed based on satisfactory academic performance. The following expenses are covered by the bursary programme: registration fees, tuition fees, prescribed textbooks, accommodation in residence, meals and a personal allowance.<\/p>\n<p>On completion of their studies, bursary recipients will be required to join the Water Learning Academy for up to 3 years.<\/p>\n<p>Shortlisted candidates will be contacted via written correspondence.
