The companies goal has moved from exploration to production, making them one of Africa\u2019s biggest independent diamond producers.<\/p>\n<p>The company owns the Cullinan Diamond Mine, infamously known for producing the largest polished and rough diamond in the world.<\/p>\n<p>In South Africa, Petra Diamonds operates 4 underground kimberlite diamond producing mines, which include Finsch; Kimberley Underground; Cullinan and Koffiefontein.<\/p>\n<div class=\"Iaz1daXR\"><\/div>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ABOUT_THE_BURSARY_PROGRAMME_%E2%80%93_FIELDS_COVERED_COVERAGE_VALUE_SERVICE_CONTRACT\"><\/span>ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME \u2013 FIELDS COVERED, COVERAGE VALUE &amp; SERVICE CONTRACT<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Each year, Petra Diamonds award bursaries to South African students who wish to pursue their careers in the mining sector and wish to make a positive contribution to the country.<\/p>\n<p>The bursary programme is administered by Career Wise, who are responsible for accepting, scanning and shortlisting candidates. Shortlisted students must attend a panel interview assessment and final selection will be made by Petra Diamonds.<br \/>\nBursaries will be awarded to students who are currently studying (or intend on studying) towards a mining related qualification, specifically within one of the following fields:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Electrical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Mechanical Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Mining Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Metallurgy Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Geology<\/li>\n<li>Mine Survey<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The following expenses will be covered by the bursary award: tuition fees, accommodation, meals, cash and travel allowance.<\/p>\n<p>Students will be required to take part in practical vacation work during the December and January holidays, and once graduated, work for Petra Diamonds for a period equal to their bursary award.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ELIGIBILITY_REQUIREMENTS\"><\/span>ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>South Africa citizen<\/li>\n<li>Completed Matric OR currently in Matric<\/li>\n<li>Achieved a minimum overall average of 60% for current year of study<\/li>\n<li>Studying or intend on studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study<\/li>\n<li>Studying or intend on studying full time at a recognised University or University of Technology<\/li>\n<li>Achieved good tertiary academic results if currently studying at University or University of Technology<\/li>\n<li>Willing to relocate to rural areas (mining areas) if required<\/li>\n<li>Have a clear criminal record<\/li>\n<li>Medically fit to work underground and in the mining environment<\/li>\n<li>Interested in working in the Mining industry<\/li>\n<li>Proven financial need<\/li>\n<li>*Preference will be given to students from local mining communities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"HOW_TO_APPLY_FOR_THE_BURSARY\"><\/span>HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>You may apply in one of the following ways:<br \/>\n1) Online at: <a href=\"#\"><\/a><br \/>\n(You will need to register an account and then login to complete your application.
