{"id":4047,"date":"2022-06-26T15:04:18","date_gmt":"2022-06-26T15:04:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uptymes.com\/edu\/unesco-guillermo-cano-world-press-freedom-prize-in-2020-worth-us25000\/"},"modified":"2022-06-26T15:04:18","modified_gmt":"2022-06-26T15:04:18","slug":"unesco-guillermo-cano-world-press-freedom-prize-in-2020-worth-us25000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uptymes.com\/edu\/unesco-guillermo-cano-world-press-freedom-prize-in-2020-worth-us25000\/","title":{"rendered":"UNESCO\/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize in 2020 (Worth US$25,000 )"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p id=\"page-title\">The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO) offers the\u00a0 UNESCO\/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>UNESCO invites the governments of Member States, in consultation with their National Commissions, as well as international and regional professional non-governmental organizations, active in the field of press freedom, to nominate candidates for next year\u2019s UNESCO\/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize.<\/p>\n<p>This Prize was established by UNESCO\u2019s Executive Board, in 1997, in honour of Guillermo Cano, a Colombian journalist who died in the exercise of his profession. Its purpose is to reward each year a person, organization or institution that has made a notable contribution to the defence and\/or promotion of press freedom anywhere in the world, especially if risks have been involved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>World Press Freedom Day 2020<\/strong>\u00a0will take place in The Hague (Netherlands) from 22 to 24 April 2020. The Prize is funded by the Cano Foundation (Colombia) and the Helsingin Sanomat Foundation (Finland).<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Worth_of_Award\"\/><strong>Worth of Award<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Awarded annually, on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day (3 May), the Prize is marked by a ceremony and the winner is presented with the sum of US$25,000.
