{"id":3329,"date":"2022-06-17T23:20:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-17T23:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uptymes.com\/edu\/eac-scholarship-programme-two-year-funded-masters-opportunity-for-academic-year-2021-2022-cohort-3\/"},"modified":"2022-06-17T23:20:00","modified_gmt":"2022-06-17T23:20:00","slug":"eac-scholarship-programme-two-year-funded-masters-opportunity-for-academic-year-2021-2022-cohort-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uptymes.com\/edu\/eac-scholarship-programme-two-year-funded-masters-opportunity-for-academic-year-2021-2022-cohort-3\/","title":{"rendered":"EAC Scholarship Programme Two-Year Funded Masters\u2019 Opportunity For Academic Year 2021\/2022 (COHORT 3)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>CALL FOR APPLICATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The General Public is hereby informed that the EAC Scholarship programme is now open for suitably qualified and interested nationals from the East African Community to apply for cohort 3 of the KfW \u2013 funded Scholarships, to pursue Master\u2019s studies in an EAC Partner State other than their own.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Opening date<\/strong>: 27<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0August, 2021<\/p>\n<p><strong>Closing date<\/strong>: 17<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0September, 2021 not later than 17:00hrs East African Time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligible applicants<\/strong>: Young nationals of EAC Partner states (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duration of the Scholarship<\/strong>: 2 years<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The minimum requirements for qualification into the Programme are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Be a national of a partner state of the East African Community;<\/li>\n<li>Be\u00a0<strong>below 35 years\u00a0<\/strong>of age at the time of application;<\/li>\n<li>Possess at least an equivalent of Upper Second-Class Honours or \u201cDistinction\u201d as applicable;<\/li>\n<li>Have obtained admission from a university in another country of the EAC Region other than their<\/li>\n<li>Submit a well written motivation letter in English (with not more than 500 words) elaborating on the following :\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrates a convincing motivation for wanting to pursue the Master\u2019s Programme<\/li>\n<li>Adequately demonstrates the applicant\u2019s foreseen professional engagement in EAC Integration agenda after completing the Master\u2019s Programme.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrates how they expect to apply the acquired skills and knowledge from the Master\u2019s Programme to contribute to the EAC Integration<\/li>\n<li>Personal, professional and academic vision in the next 5 to 10 years<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: This has to be one typed letter for each programme and converted to PDF.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Up to 63 scholarships are available in the 2021\/2022 academic year. The scholarship covers the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Return economy air ticket\u00a0<\/strong>between the candidate\u2019s home and host country;<\/li>\n<li><strong>University tuition fees<\/strong>: payable directly to the university against official invoice;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stipend:\u00a0<\/strong>EUR 380 per month to support living expenses including housing, food, utilities, local transportation and settlement expenses;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Allowances for study materials and research<\/strong>: EUR 1,500 one-off \u00a0allowance;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Medical insurance<\/strong>; and<\/li>\n<li><strong>Extracurricular events<\/strong>: at least one event per<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>A letter of motivation for applying for the scholarship (see the structure of the letter in Section 2 (e) above);<\/li>\n<li>A signed curriculum vitae;<\/li>\n<li>Certified copies of all university degree certificates and transcripts;<\/li>\n<li>A copy of the university Application Form and its attachments;<\/li>\n<li>A recent passport photograph in colour of your full head and upper shoulders;<\/li>\n<li>Evidence of Nationality of a Partner State in the East African Community such as copy of National Identity card\/ passport\/birth certificate; and<\/li>\n<li>Any other form of evidence required in the application form e.g. medical reports, photos and letters of reference.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: (i)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Applicants with academic qualifications obtained from foreign institutions must be equated by the National Council\/ Commission for\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Higher Education in their respective countries.<\/p>\n<p>(ii) \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Applicants with supporting documents in languages other than English are required to submit both the original and copies\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 translated to English a language by an accredited language translation provider.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>APPLICATION PROCEDURE<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The application process is two-fold and each must be completed separately.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Application for admission to the university:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong>: Identify the programme and University of your choice (see appendix that contains Eligible Programmes);<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong>: Fill the application form for admission to the university of choice (this can be found on the university website).\u00a0<strong><u>Ensure you pay<\/u>\u00a0<u>the University application fee.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong>: Submit the completed university application form and its supporting documents to the university indicating that you intend to apply for the EAC Scholarship Programme.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notes:\u00a0<\/strong>(a) Candidates may apply to more than one University.<\/p>\n<p>(b)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Candidates may apply for more than one programme; however, each programme should have its own application form and\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 attachments.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Application for the EAC Scholarship:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Step 4<\/strong>: Register online for the EAC scholarship at:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5<\/strong>: Download the scholarship application form from the IUCEA<\/p>\n<p>website:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iucea.org\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">www.iucea.org<\/a>\u00a0under\u00a0<u>Scholarships<\/u>\u00a0and fill it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 6<\/strong>: Submit the filled application form in step 5 and supporting<\/p>\n<p>documents in pdf format as\u00a0<strong>one zipped folder electronically<\/strong>\u00a0to:<\/p>\n<p>scholarships@iucea.org\u00a0and<\/p>\n<p>project@adroitconsultinternational.com\u00a0indicating in the subject<\/p>\n<p>line: YOUR NAME, PROGRAMME APPLIED FOR and<\/p>\n<p>UNIVERSITY e.g. Timothy Moyo, MBA at Kayombogo University.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Issued by<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Permanent Secretary,<\/p>\n<p>Ministry of Education, Science and Technology,<\/p>\n<p>Government City,<\/p>\n<p>Mtumba Area,<\/p>\n<p>Afya Street,<\/p>\n<p>University of Dodoma,<\/p>\n<p>P.
