The scheme enables individuals seeking asylum and refugees who are not able to access student finance to study at the University.<\/p>\n<p>They warmly welcome international students and ensure that they have all the support they need, both before they arrive and whilst they are studying with them, so they can make the most of the time in the UK. At present more than 5,000 students from 140 countries outside the UK contribute to a thriving international community across their campuses in Exeter and Cornwall.<\/p>\n<p>Their campuses are located in a region which boasts some of the most beautiful countryside and coastline in the UK. The Streatham and St Luke\u2019s campuses are conveniently located a 15-minute walk or five-minute bus ride from the centre of Exeter, a historic student-friendly city only two and a half hours from London. Students studying at our Penryn Campus find it easy to reach Falmouth, a scenic port town with a vibrant student community where you constantly meet people you know.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Worth_of_Award\"\/><strong>Worth of Award<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h4>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undergraduates \u2013 a full tuition fee waiver plus a grant for living costs of \u00a39500 for each year of study.<\/li>\n<li>Doctorate Students (STEM disciplines) \u2013 a full tuition fee waiver plus an annual living cost grant of \u00a315,009.\u00a0 A research allowance of \u00a35000 per year will also be paid.\u00a0 All funding will normally be for a maximum of 3.5 years.<\/li>\n<li>Doctorate Students (HASS disciplines) -a full tuition fee waiver plus an annual living cost grant of \u00a315,009.\u00a0 A research allowance of \u00a3750 per year will also be paid. All funding will normally be for a maximum of 3 years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Eligibility\"\/><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h4>\n<p>As well as meeting the academic requirements for your chosen programme of study you will also need to demonstrate that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You have submitted a claim for asylum within the UK and are awaiting a response (this includes submission of a fresh claim)\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You have Limited Leave to Remain (formerly Discretionary Leave to Remain) in the UK and are not eligible for funding via Student Finance England\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You have been awarded \u2018Humanitarian Protection\u2019 or Refugee status in the UK but are not eligible for funding via Student Finance England\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You have left care in the UK and are assessed as international for tuition fee purposes and are not eligible for funding via Student Finance England\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>(For applicants to postgraduate research programmes only) You have been granted refugee status* by the UK Home Office\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You are the family member of someone with one of the immigration statuses listed above with \u2018in line\u2019\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong>\u00a0\u2018dependent\u2019 status<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sanctuary Scholarship applications will be considered for students applying to the following programmes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-time undergraduate degree programmes<\/li>\n<li>Full-time Doctorate level programmes (eg PhD, EngD,EdD)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following programmes are not eligible for Sanctuary Scholarship funding:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BMBS Medicine \u2013 this is due to a cap imposed by the NHS on the number of home students they can recruit to the programme.\u00a0 Any change to the fee status of a student during their studies would put the University in breach of this cap<\/li>\n<li>Any taught or research Masters programmes (eg MA, MSc, MPhil, MbyRes)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Apply\"\/><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>If you want to submit an application for the Sanctuary Scholarship they encourage you first to apply for a place at the University.\u00a0 Before doing this you might wish to check their information on applying for undergraduate or postgraduate study.<\/li>\n<li>Applications for the Sanctuary Scholarship must be made using our online application form.<\/li>\n<li>You will be required to upload proof of your immigration status and a reference.\u00a0 Your reference should be from someone who has known you for a significant period of time and who is aware of your personal circumstances.<\/li>\n<li>If you are applying to study as a postgraduate research student, you will also need to include a research proposal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Deadline:<\/strong>\u00a0Applications close\u00a0<strong>May 18, 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Click_here_for_more_details_and_to_apply\"\/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.exeter.ac.uk\/studying\/funding\/award\/?id=2750\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Click here for more details and to apply<\/strong><\/a><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Exeter in the UK is offering the Sanctuary Scholarship in 2020.
