The primary awards for honours, master\u2019s and doctoral students are available through the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrf.ac.za\/funding_overview.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">National Research Foundation (NRF)<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrc.ac.za\/funding\/grants-and-scholarships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">Medical Research Council (MRC)<\/a>. These awards are independently advertised via the electronic noticeboard and VULA pages. You are encouraged to familiarise yourself with such opportunities. You may also request a one-on-one session with PGFO staff by emailing\u00a0pgfunding@uct.ac.za.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"December_scholarships\"\/>December scholarships<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h3>\n<p>UCT awards scholarships each December to graduating students who have performed exceptionally well. Recipients are identified by the university and an application form is not required. These may be awarded by heads of departments or supervisors to students working on specific projects or programmes.
