Check the list of closing dates supplied below to make sure that you submit your application on time.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Online Application System is intended for use by new prospective students submitting an application to UP for the first time. It is not intended for students presently registered at the University of Pretoria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To use the Online Application System you will need the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>internet access<\/li>\n<li>an email address which you can access regularly, because as soon as you submit your online application, a student number (EMPLID) will be sent to this email address as confirmation of receipt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Click on the videos link below for a step-by step guide on how to use the online application system, UP Portal and online contract.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Online Applications<\/li>\n<li>Accessing the UP Portal<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.up.ac.za\/online-application\/article\/2746884\/further-application-instructions\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">Online Application System instructions<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>General Application Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>UP applications open on 1 April of the year preceding the year of study.<\/li>\n<li>Each prospective student must complete only\u00a0one online application. On the online application\u00a0the University of Pretoria offers a first and second choice in terms of what you wish to study. All applicants should fill in both a first and second choice on the online application.<\/li>\n<li>Once your online application\u00a0has been processed, you will receive a student number(EMPLID).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Receiving a student number (EMPLID) does NOT imply that you have been accepted by the University of Pretoria yet<\/strong>.\u00a0Admission is a separate process that your application undergoes after being evaluated by the relevant faculty.<\/li>\n<li>It is in your best interest to complete your own online application. The University of Pretoria does not make use of representatives, agents or agencies during the application process. If you choose to make use of representatives, agents or agencies, you do so at your own risk. It is of utmost importance that you provide your personal email and postal addresses to enable the University of Pretoria to communicate with you directly.<\/li>\n<li>For the\u00a0application for Distance Education admission\u00a0(Faculty of Education) please visit the \u201cDistance Education \u201d web page before you apply. Different rules are applicable.<\/li>\n<li>It is important to note that should you wish to study the selection programmes BSc(Arch)(Architecture) or BSc(Int)(Interior Architecture), you must indicate them as your first choice on your application, or you will not be considered for these programmes. You still need to click on \u201cVERIFY\u201d and \u201cAPPLY\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Important note: It is the responsibility of the applicant to upload required supporting .pdf documents.\u00a0 It is also the responsibility of the applicant to verify and finally click on \u201capply\u201d to submit an online application. \u00a0The online application system is\u00a0not\u00a0intended for use by students presently registered and studying at the University of Pretoria.\u00a0\u00a0Please contact your Faculty should you wish to change to another field of study or if you wish to pursue a different degree.\u00a0 Important!\u00a0\u00a0If you have not clicked on VERIFY and APPLY as your last two steps, your application has not officially been submitted to the University of Pretoria.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Before\u00a0starting the application process, please:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review the\u00a0checklist\u00a0at the end of this document, to take notice of all pre-requisites. You will need to have certain information ready, as well as certain supporting documents available electronically, without which you will not be able to complete your online application.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You will only be able to submit your online application once you have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completed the full online application form, AND<\/li>\n<li>Uploaded all the necessary scanned supporting documents in .pdf format, AND<\/li>\n<li>Either paid the application fee by credit card OR uploaded proof of bank deposit at Standard Bank, Account Number 012602604 (see\u00a0checklist)\u00a0.<\/li>\n<li>If you have not clicked APPLY, your form has not been submitted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once your application has been successfully submitted after you have clicked VERIFY and APPLY:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0You will no longer be able to do any further editing of your application via the Online Application system.<\/li>\n<li>You will be informed by email what your allocated student number (EMPLID) is.<\/li>\n<li>You will also be sent other important procedures describing how to check your progress and application results on the student portal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/upnet.up.ac.za\/psc\/upapply\/EMPLOYEE\/SA\/c\/UP_OAP_MENU.UP_OAP_LOGIN.GBL?\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">Apply Now<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Checklist for Online Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>BROWSER REQUIREMENTS:\u00a0IMPORTANT! This site requires Internet Explorer (IE) version 7 or 8 or higher browsers.<br \/>DATA INPUTS:\u00a0When you access the Online Application you will be requested to provide an email address to which UP can send communications.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the application process you will be required to capture your South African National ID number or, if you are an international applicant, your Passport number.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You will later need to scan your ID\/Passport document so that it is available to be uploaded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When you start using the Online Application you will be requested to indicate the \u201cCareer\u201d for which you are applying.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you have never studied before or have not obtained any degree yet (new first year students), please select\u00a0Undergraduate career.<\/li>\n<li>If you have already obtained one or more degree\/s, please select\u00a0Postgraduate career.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are applying as an\u00a0undergraduate\u00a0applicant for the first time, you will need to capture the details of your School and School results, which could be either of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your\u00a0year-end\u00a0Grade 11 marks, or<\/li>\n<li>If you have already completed Grade 12, your\u00a0final\u00a0Grade 12 results.<\/li>\n<li>You will later need to scan schools results so that it is available to be uploaded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Warning: When you get to the screen where you are requested to capture the marks, please ensure that you capture your marks\/symbols accurately and in the sequence as reflected on your school document. If you record your marks incorrectly, the University reserves the right to reject or revoke your admission.<\/p>\n<p>If you are applying to study towards\u00a0a postgraduate\u00a0degree, you will be requested to capture the details of your previous degree(s), eg Degree description, institution and year of graduation.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A comprehensive certified academic record will need to be scanned and uploaded, as well as a certificate of conduct.<\/li>\n<li>Faculties may later require additional and\/or original documents, depending on their specific admission requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SCANNING AND UPLOADING OF SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:\u00a0\u00a0You must \u2013 either yourself or via third parties eg certain camera\/photographic shops \u2013 be able to scan each of the requested documents into separate files using a \u201cPDF\u201d file format. Refer to \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.up.ac.za\/media\/shared\/Legacy\/sitefiles\/file\/1607\/instructionsforonlinedocumentscanninganduploadver2_1_2.pdf\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">Guidelines for preparing documents to be uploaded<\/a>\u201c. Ensure to save with Acrobat or CutePDF\u00a0and\u00a0not\u00a0Acrobat Reader.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/docupub.com\/pdfconvert\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">Convert any document to PDF<\/a>\u00a0to upload on your application.<\/p>\n<p>You will later need to have these \u201cPDF\u201d files available on some form of electronic media (eg data disk, memory stick or your desktop) from which you can upload the necessary files as may be required during the application process.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Pretoria reserves the right to reject or revoke your admission if you provide incorrect, incomplete, illegible or fake documents.<\/p>\n<p>WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I HAVE APPLIED?<\/p>\n<p>After your application has been processed you will receive communication from the University of Pretoria, explaining how to access your Student Centre through the UP Student Portal, enabling you to track your progress and status, as well as other communications and possible outstanding items.\u00a0Some applications for specialised fields might only be processed after the official closing date.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ALLOCATION OF YOUR STUDENT NUMBER:\u00a0\u00a0If you have applied Online, you will receive a student number in your email inbox within approximately 15 working days after submission.\u00a0Paper applications may take longer to process.\u00a0You cannot access the student portal with your application number. Once you have a student number, you may create a profile as a new user on the portal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>INFORMATION ON UNIVERSITY BURSARIES \/ FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:\u00a0Information on the application and allocation process will be sent to successful students by September. Candidates who are admitted after December should make enquiries at the Client Service Centre. The closing date for bursary or loan applications is 31 October. Scholarship awards are subject to approval by the Research Committee and are not guaranteed.
