The Department endeavors to provide the necessary available funds to students who lack the financial resources in the pursuance of their studies.<\/p>\n<p>.<br \/>3.\u00a0<strong>Guide for Financial aid<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Financial Aid is granted to full \u2013 time registered students only.<\/li>\n<li>Students have to be South African citizens.<\/li>\n<li>Allocation of funds is based on financial need and academic merit.<\/li>\n<li>Financial Aid is granted subject to the conditions stipulated by donors\/sponsors and DUT.<\/li>\n<li>Bursaries are granted on merit, automatically renewed each year, subject to academic progression, for the NSFAS Bursaries.<\/li>\n<li>Funds allocated to students are credited\/paid directly to the student\u2019s fee account.<\/li>\n<li>Donors are entitled to a full and detailed account of the administration of their monies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>.<br \/>4.\u00a0<strong>Application Process for NSFAS Bursaries<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0The application process, forms and required documentation are available from www.nsfas.org.za<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>.<br \/>5.\u00a0<strong>Closing Date for Applications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applications window is generally from August to November each year for NSFAS Bursaries, apply for the Bursary before the 30 November of the current year for the following academic year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>.<br \/>6.\u00a0<strong>Qualifying criteria<\/strong><br \/>You qualify for a NSFAS bursary if you are a South African citizen who plans to study in 2021 or you are already studying at a public university or TVET College and you meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>SASSA grant recipients or<\/li>\n<li>Your combined household income is not more than R350 000 per year or<\/li>\n<li>Person with a disability with a combined household income of not more than R600 000 per year or<\/li>\n<li>Student who begun their university studies before 2018 and their household income is not more than R122 000 per year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>.<br \/>7.<strong>\u00a0What Is Required During The NSFAS Application Process?<\/strong><br \/>NSFAS may need more information from you to process your application, check what supporting documents are required and ensure that you have all the relevant information.<br \/>You will need the following to complete your NSFAS application:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your own cellphone number and email address<\/li>\n<li>Copy of your ID or birth certificate<\/li>\n<li>ID copies of parents, guardian or spouse<\/li>\n<li>Your proof of income or 1 year\u2019s IRP5 (if applicable)<\/li>\n<li>Your parents, guardian or spouse\u2019s proof of income<\/li>\n<li>If you are a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income will be required<\/li>\n<li>Applicants with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form, click here to download<\/li>\n<li>An applicant who is recognized as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form, click here to download.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>.<br \/>8.\u00a0<strong>Academic Merit<\/strong><br \/>Students studying at DUT will be judged on their academic performance. Continuing students will have to progress to the next level to qualify for bursary. New first year students will be awarded bursaries based on successful registration for a funded programme.<\/p>\n<p>.<br \/>9.\u00a0<strong>The Financial Aid Package<\/strong><br \/>New students will not pay the minimum registration fee once NSFAS Awards has been confirmed.<br \/>Continuing Students: The NSFAS Awards covers tuition and residence costs including meal and\/or learning material allowances (books).<\/p>\n<p>.<br \/>10.\u00a0<strong>Bursaries<\/strong><br \/>Bursaries are awarded to students in terms of laid down criteria stipulated by donors\/sponsors.
