Hence, TCU is responsible for coordinating admission into various Undergraduate degree programmes in Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs) in Tanzania.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In making sure that admissions into HLIs are fair, smooth and well coordinated TCU has prepared a procedure for that purpose. The procedure in place elucidates the roles of each key stakeholder in the admission process.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"20_Application_and_Admission_Process\"><\/span>2.0\u00a0 Application and Admission Process<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In handling application and admission processes the following stakeholders will be involved: Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU), Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs), the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA), National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) and Prospective students.<\/p>\n<p><!-- Link ads --><\/p>\n<p>\nThe application and admission process will be as follows:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HLIs to advertise their programmes through various media;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Prospective applicants to lodge their applications to institutions of their preference;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HLIs to receive applications through their systems and authenticate the applicants\u2019 qualifications through NECTA and NACTE databases;<\/li>\n<li>TCU to issue accounts to each individual institution to allow exchange of admission data\/statistics\/information;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HLIs to process students\u2019 applications and selections through their systems and approve Senates\/Boards before uploading to TCU portal;<\/li>\n<li>TCU to verify the lists of selected applicants using NECTA and NACTE databases and give feedback to HLIs for announcing admitted students; and<\/li>\n<li>TCU to finally process and organize all admission data on its database for future<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"30_Minimum_Entry_Requirements_for_Undergraduate_Degrees_in_20172018_Admission_Cycle\"><\/span>3.0 Minimum Entry Requirements for Undergraduate Degrees in 2017\/2018 Admission Cycle<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Commission informs Higher learning institutions (HLIs) that they will only be allowed to admit students who meet the Commission\u2019s approved minimum entry and specific entry requirements set for each programme as stated in the Undergraduate Admission Guidebook. prepare portal for receiving selection data from HLIs;<\/li>\n<li>To handle all quality assurance issues in the admission process; and<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To ascertain that selection processes were conducted fairly and consistently in accordance to set minimum<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>To validate all selected applicants in order to:\n<ol>\n<li>authenticate their qualifications;<\/li>\n<li>check their eligibility into the programmes they have been selected;<\/li>\n<li>check if programmes have TCU\u2019s\/NACTE approval; and<\/li>\n<li>Check if programme capacities have been adhered<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>To identify and notify HLIs prior to admission concerning applicants with:\n<ol>\n<li>multiple admissions;<\/li>\n<li>unacceptable entry qualifications;<\/li>\n<li>anomalies in examination results and<\/li>\n<li>Prior admission.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ol>\n<li>To educate and create awareness to applicants and other stakeholders on matters related to admissions;<\/li>\n<li>To train institutions&#8217; Admission Officers on the use of TCU portal;<\/li>\n<li>To conduct regular and impromptu admission audits;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\n<!-- Link ads --><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To maintain database of applicants, admitted and enrolled students in HLIs within the University Information Management System (UIMS) framework;<\/li>\n<li>To set deadlines for applications, admission, and transfer of students;<\/li>\n<li>To set procedures for inter and intra-\u00ad\u2010institutional transfers; and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>To approve inter and intra-\u00ad\u2010institutional transfers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"42_The_Roles_of_Higher_Learning_Institutions\"><\/span>4.2\u00a0\u00a0 The Roles of Higher Learning Institutions<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To develop an online application platform capable of linking with TCU portal;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To advertise only the TCU and NACTE approved programmes with details as indicated in the Admission Guidebook;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>To create a helpdesk for applicants who might need assistance during application period;<\/li>\n<li>To receive applications through their online systems;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>To maintain a database of all applicants (applied and selected) for further reference within the UIMS framework;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>To authenticate the applicants\u2019 qualifications through NECTA and NACTE databases; vii.To vet the equivalence of foreign qualifications with the national equivalences before<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>processing their applications;<\/p>\n<p>viii.To process the applications for admissions for recognized categories of applicants; ix.To select and approve applicants through their approval organs;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To upload the list of both selected and non-\u00ad\u2010selected applicants into TCU portal;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To announce both admitted and non-\u00ad\u2010admitted students (with reasons) through various media;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>To upload into TCU portal applicants cleared from multiple admissions upon confirmation of the applicants;<\/li>\n<li>To issue admission letters to selected and confirmed applicants; xiv.To handle all application
