This is achieved by bringing together the theory and practice of software development through research projects and work experience in both industrial and research settings.<\/p>\n<p>Students attend two of the three universities during the course, spending one year at each. Annual summer schools are an important element of the course, and these take place at a different university each year. The 120 ECTS course consists of taught modules, projects &amp; dissertations, experiential learning activities (work placements), and opportunities to explore the culture of each country.<\/p>\n<p>This unique, two-year Joint Master programme, the Erasmus Mundus Joint Msc in Advanced Systems Dependability (DEPEND) is offered by\u00a0Maynooth University\u00a0in Ireland, the\u00a0University of St. Andrews\u00a0in Scotland (UK), and the\u00a0Universit\u00e9 de Lorraine\u00a0in Nancy (France).<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Worth_of_Award\"\/><strong>Worth of Award<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Up to 20 full, 2-year grants worth up to EUR 49,000 each (fees, travel, &amp; subsistence) are available per year, funded by the European Erasmus+ EMJMD Programme<\/li>\n<li>Erasmus+ scholarships are funded by the EU under the Erasmus+\/EMJMD programme, and cover the full participation costs for successful applicants (fees, etc.), and also provide a contribution to your travel costs as follows:<\/li>\n<li>The maximum total scholarship grant is 49 000 EUR per applicant<\/li>\n<li>1 000 EUR per year per scholarship holder resident in a Programme Country for travel costs<\/li>\n<li>2 000 EUR per year for travel costs + 1 000 EUR for installation costs for scholarship holder resident in a Partner Country whose location is situated at less than 4.000 km from the EMJMD coordinating HEI (Maynooth University)<\/li>\n<li>3 000 EUR per year for travel costs + 1 000 EUR for installation costs for scholarship holder resident in a Partner Country whose location is situated at 4.000 km or more from the EMJMD coordinating HEI (Maynooth University)<\/li>\n<li>1 000 per month for 24 months as a contribution towards subsistence costs.<\/li>\n<li>9000 EUR per year for fees for Partner Country students and 4500 EUR per year for Programme Country students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Eligibility\"\/><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h4>\n<p>The DEPEND programme is intended for a small number of highly-qualified, highly-motivated international students. Entry is competitive, and in order to maintain a good professor\/student ratio, up to 25 students will be selected for entry to the course each year.\u00a0Courses are taught through English only.\u00a0The admission criteria are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A high honours degree in Computer Science, or a very closely related discipline (with a grade equivalent to at least II.1,)<\/li>\n<li>Non-native speakers of English must provide proof of an acceptable knowledge of English (for example, IELTS of at\u00a0least 6.5, or equivalent)<\/li>\n<li>Only candidates who have been accepted for a place on this course are eligible for a scholarship.<\/li>\n<li>EMJMD student scholarships cover the entire 2-year duration of the Master course and are awarded exclusively for full-time enrolment. Scholarship candidates must have already obtained a first higher education degree or demonstrate a recognised equivalent level of learning according to national rules and legislation in place.<\/li>\n<li>Students who have already obtained an EMJMD scholarship or are former EMMC (Erasmus Mundus \u2013 Action 1) or Erasmus Mundus Master\/Doctoral scholarship holders are not eligible for an additional scholarship under the EMJMD action. Students benefiting from an EMJMD scholarship cannot benefit from another EU grant while pursuing their EMJMD studies.<\/li>\n<li>Candidates who will only obtain their first higher education degree at the end of the academic year preceding the EMJMD student intake concerned by the EMJMD scholarship can nevertheless apply for a scholarship and can be selected by the consortium, under the condition that the student obtains the required degree prior to the beginning of the Master course intake concerned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Apply\"\/><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Each applicant may apply for (up to) three taught programme choices OR (up to) one research programme choice OR one undergraduate programme choice which will be reviewed simultaneously.<\/li>\n<li>Non-Maynooth University students are asked to provide transcripts and birth certificate\/valid passport and references (where applicable).<\/li>\n<li>You must have an active e-mail account in order to use this facility.
