12pt;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Eligible students for loans for the academic year<strong> 2023\/2024<\/strong>, admitted to pursue Postgraduate Degree Programmes must fulfill the <strong>General Eligibility<\/strong><strong> Criteria <\/strong>set in <strong>3.2 <\/strong>above.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"141Postgraduate_Students_Academic_Staff\"\/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">14.1Postgraduate Students (Academic Staff)<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">In addition to the General Eligibility Criteria, applicants in this category must fulfill eligibility criteria specific to Postgraduate applicants\u2019, which are:-<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Must hold a first Degree or an Advanced Diploma, with a minimum of Upper Second Class (for applicants pursuing Master Degrees) or Master Degree with minimum of Upper Second Class (for applicants pursuing PhD degrees);<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Must be academic members of staff, admitted to pursue postgraduate studies on fulltime basis, at an accredited Higher Education Institution in Tanzania;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Must have been officially nominated by the employer, and obtained endorsement from the Vice<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Chancellor\/Principal\/Provost\/Rector of the respective institution;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Must have started to repay their previous loans at least for an unbroken period of twelve months, or a lump sum of the same instalments if was previous loans beneficiary; and<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The employer must have signed the Financing Agreement between Higher Education Students\u2019 Loans Board and respective Higher Education Institution.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Postgraduate_Students_Admitted_At_The_Nelson_Mandela_African_Institution_of_Science_and_Technology_NM-AIST\"\/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Postgraduate Students Admitted At The Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST)<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">To strengthen national capacity in research, ICT and innovation;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">HESLB issues loans to students admitted to pursue Master and PhD in Science related programmes offered at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Eligible students for loans for academic year<strong> 2023\/2024<\/strong>, must fulfil General <strong>Eligibility Criteria <\/strong>set in <strong>3.2<\/strong> above.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">In addition, applicants must fulfill eligibility specific requirements to postgraduate applicants in the <strong>NM-AIST <\/strong>category: \u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Must have been admitted at the Nelson Mandela<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) to pursue Master or PhD programme in one of the under listed priority areas:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Life Sciences;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Mathematical &amp; Computer Science Engineering;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Information and Communication Science Engineering; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Materials, Energy, Water and Environmental Sciences.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Must have been employees of Public Institutions<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">and worked for a minimum of <strong>two (2) years<\/strong>;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Must be guaranteed by their employers<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">with respect to repayment of the loans;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Must have started to repay their previous loans at least for an unbroken period of twelve months, or a lump sum of twelve instalments, if they were previous loan beneficiaries;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Repayment for NM-AIST postgraduate students\u2019 loans shall start immediately upon completion of the first year of study by monthly instalments deducted by employers from beneficiary\u2019s salary and remitted to HESLB;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Postgraduate_Students_Admitted_at_Law_School_of_Tanzania_LASCOT_Students\"\/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Postgraduate Students Admitted at Law School of Tanzania (LASCOT) Students<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Law School\u00a0 of Tanzania students\u00a0 who\u00a0 are\u00a0 eligible\u00a0 for\u00a0 loans\u00a0 in\u00a0 the academic year <strong>2023\/2024 <\/strong>must meet the following conditions:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Must fulfil the <strong>General Eligibility Criteria <\/strong>set in <strong>Section 3.2 <\/strong>above.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">In addition to the <strong>General Eligibility Criteria <\/strong>set in Section <strong>3.2 <\/strong>above, applicants must fulfil eligibility criteria specific to the Postgraduate applicants at Law School of Tanzania (LASCOT) which are: \u2013<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Must have graduated (with LLB Degree) within<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Five (5 )<\/strong> years (i.e. from <strong>2017 <\/strong>to <strong>2021;<\/strong>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Loans will be issued <strong>ONLY <\/strong>to <strong>NEEDY <\/strong>Applicants who were previous loan beneficiaries.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Loans for Law School students shall be issued to cover two items:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Books and Stationery expenses;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Tuition Fees<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"144_Applicable_rates_for_Postgraduate_Students\"\/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">14.4 Applicable rates for Postgraduate Students<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"_1441_Meals_and_Accommodation_MA\"\/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 14.4.1 \u00a0\u00a0 Meals and Accommodation (MA)<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h3>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The Board may provide loans for Meals, Accommodation and Incidentals at the rate of <strong>TZS 10,000\/= per day <\/strong>while on campus for theoretical instructions or in field for data collection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"_1442_Books_and_Stationery_Expenses_BSE\"\/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 14.4.2 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Books and Stationery Expenses (BSE)<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h3>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">A maximum of <strong>TZS 500,000\/= <\/strong>per annum for Books and Stationery may be granted to eligible students pursuing Master and PhD.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"_1443_Tuition_Fee_TF\"\/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 14.4.3 \u00a0\u00a0 Tuition Fee (TF)<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h3>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">HESLB may provide tuition fee loans at <strong>100% <\/strong>rate based on the rates charged by the respective Higher Education Institution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"_1444_Research_Expenses_RE\"\/><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 14.4.4 \u00a0\u00a0 Research Expenses (RE)<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h3>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">HESLB may provide loans at <strong>100% <\/strong>rate for Research expenses in all fields, based on the rates applicable at HLI as may be endorsed from time to time.
