Cost of Attendance and Disbursements

COST OF ATTENDANCE (CoA)

The Cost of Attendance for a student is an estimate (budget) of a student’s educational expenses for the academic year/period of enrolment at UJ. This estimate is what defines your financial need which is what the school uses to determine your loan eligibility amount. Below is a breakdown of how much an average student might require per academic year, this list is not exhaustive but provides basic guidelines subjected to your program of choice.

DISBURSEMENTS

First-time undergraduate students

The disbursement process for first time undergraduate students can only be initiated 30 days after registration. You will receive your loan in two equal disbursements. The first disbursement will be received within 30 days after the initiation date.  The second disbursement will only be initiated after the submission of your academic progress for the first semester, the funds will be in your South African bank account within 30 days of the initiation date. It is therefore advisable to have funds available to cover costs while waiting for your funds to be paid out to you.

Returning undergraduate and Postgraduate students 

The disbursement process will be initiated the day after registration.
