The main contrast between two is the design. While the S6 is straight-edged, the S6 edge features a curvier, more round-edged handset. However, other than the extended display of the S6 edge, the two phones share the exact same display spec.
Both come with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen, with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and a pixel density of 577 pixels per inch. And with their seamless metal and glass construction, the slinky Galaxy S6 and dual curved S6 edge are both crafted from premium materials.
In terms of options, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will be available in: White Pearl, Black Sapphire, and Gold Platinum.

For its new flagships, Samsung has made the decision to switch from the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor of the S5, to the Exynos 7420 – featuring an octa-core 64-bit (4 x 2.1GHz cores and 4 x 1.5GHz cores), along with a Mali-T760 GPU and 3GB of RAM.
Samsung has also introduced smarter charging. For starters, you can charge wirelessly. So, if you’re out and about and low on battery, you can just stick the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 edge on a pad that allows you to power up and away you go.
Both phones enable you to juice up faster, too. For example, you can watch up to two hours of HD video from just 10 minutes of charging. Pretty impressive.

Hands down, the star of the new Galaxy devices is the camera. No difference here between the two phones, but the camera itself deserves a mention.
For a start, it’s an upgrade on previous Samsung smartphones. With its 16MP rear camera and 5MP front camera, you can use it for everything from landscapes to selfies – with stunning results.
The time it takes to fire up has been improved too, in a time of just 0.7 seconds from home screen to camera burst, so you don’t need to worry about missing special moments.
The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge also benefit from Optical Image Stabilisation, and a bigger f1.9 aperture, meaning you can snap away in ultra-low light.

Aside from the obvious distinction – the curved screen – the two handsets share near-identical specs, with the only minor differences being dimension and battery life (if you’re not a fan of the tech spec stuff, you can skip this bit):

What’s Similar?
Both the S6 and the S6 Edge have the same screen size of 5.1 inches, with a Quad HD technology for display. The resolution is the same at 1440 x 2560, compared to that of the S5, which was 1080 x 1920. The phones are powered by the Octo core processor, Exynos 7420 and have four cores, clocking at a speed of 2.1 GHz and the other four clocking at 1.5 GHz. The cameras on both the phones are the same 16 MP and come with OIS features for the primary camera. As for the front camera, it is a 5 MP resolution and all other core specifications remain the same in both the devices.

S6 Edge – What’s Better?
However, the S6 Edge is the premium device between the two and does have some key benefits. The Edge comes with a bigger battery that lasts for twelve hours of browsing. Another important feature is that the Edge is capable of quick charging, being charged within ten minutes for a 3 or 4 hour use and capable of full charging within an hour and a half.
The battery on the S6 is 2600 mAh, whereas that of the Edge is 2550 mAh. This makes the Edge about 2% larger, though it does not make much of a difference. However, if you play a lot of 3 dimensional games, the battery is going to be hit hard in case of using the S6.

Both the S6 and the S6 Edge feature a wireless charging option apart from the fast charging option.

Dimensions and Build
The Edge is lighter when compared to the S6. The Edge weighs only 132 grams and is 7 mm in thickness, compared to the higher 138 grams and 6.8 mm thickness of the S6. Both the phones have the Corning Gorilla on front as well as back and come with metallic rims. The Edge looks more sophisticated and the protruding camera is less obvious on the S6 Edge. However, the S6 is more comfortable in the hand, whereas the Edge comes with a thin metal and is ergonomically unsatisfying.
You might even touch the screen edge by accident while holding the S6 Edge, which can be quite frustrating. However, the Edge offers a curved variant and as far as looks are concerned, it is a winner.

Curved Screen
It looks good but also offers plenty of functionalities. It makes the S6 Edge appear more futuristic. You can view the time on the edge, even in sleep mode. The People Edge mode allows you to access a notification or a message easily from its edge, with the colored lines on its home screen. You can also set the edge to be used as a notification light in the S6 Edge. This can be combined with People Edge and you can make it glow with a particular color to know the person who is calling.

Verdict
If you opt for the lower priced S6, there are no serious compromises, as both the phones are very similar, except for the curved screen.
