APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION INTO POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

 

 

Applications are invited into the

Postgraduate Programmes ranging from Postgraduate Diplomas, Masters and Doctor of Philosophy Programmes  These Programmes are as detailed below:

 

  1. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES:

1.1 POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LAW: (PGDL/SPGDL)

This is a one academic year (12

Months) Programme. The programme is offered in two categories as shown below:

  • The Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) for holders of the LL.B. degree and whose final award is an LL.B degree with a GPA between 2.0 to 2.6. In particular this is suitable for applicants wishing to pursue the Master studies in law but have not attained the minimum qualifications of GPA 2.7 for a Masters study.
  • The Specialized Postgraduate Diploma in Law (SPGDL) for holders of other degrees other than the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) provided that they have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and above in their respective first degree. This programme is designed to provide specialized training in specific fields of Law as per applicant’s choice so as to enhance the candidate’s competence by inculcating specialized legal knowledge to the candidate.
  • The courses to be offered are as they appear in the application form.
  • The Postgraduate Diploma shall be on a pass or fail basis.
  • To be considered for admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PGDL), a candidate must be a holder of the LL.B. Degree of Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) or the then Ruaha University College (RUCO) or from a recognized University or has satisfied the requirements of the award of LL.B degree with a GPA of at least 2.0 and above.
  • To be considered for admission into the Specialized Postgraduate Diploma in Law (SPGDL), a candidate must be a

holder of a First Degree of Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) or the then Ruaha University College (RUCO) or from a recognized University or has satisfied the requirements for the award of the first degree with a GPA of at least 2.0.and above in a field other than Law.

 

  1. 2 POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION (PGDE)

This is a one academic year programme (12 months). The programme is for applicants with a first non-education degree award and are in need of being engaged as teachers OR wish to take up appointments in areas related to education OR wish to undertake Masters Courses in Education.

(b) The course is organised in three parts:

(i) Continuous assessment, comprising of course work and end of the course

University Examination.  (ii) Teaching Practice and   (iii) Research Project.

 

The applicant must be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in any specialization from Ruaha

Catholic University (RUCU) or the then Ruaha University College (RUCO) or any other recognized

University with a minimum of GPA of 2.0 and above.

The programme caters for both applicants oriented in Arts or Science subjects.

Applicants to have graduated from Universities outside Tanzania will be considered on their own merit.

 

1.3 POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA

IN ICT (PGDICT)

This is a one year programme designed to cater for applicants with first degree but have had no exposure in computer knowledge and its applications. The programme is also suitable for applicants intending to study Masters in Computer Science but have a first degree in computer Science or science related courses and computer studies as one of the components with an overall attainment in such a degree a GPA of between 2.0 and 2.7.

 

Other than the common requirements for admission into

Postgraduate Programmes offered by RUCU, the applicant must have graduated with a first non-computer science degree whether in science or in arts subjects with a GPA of 2.0 and above. Graduates in computer science degree and wishing to study Masters in Computer Sciences but have a GPA of between 2.0 and 2.6 may apply this course. Applicants to have graduated from Universities outside Tanzania will be considered on their own merit.

 

2.0 MASTERS PROGRAMMES: The Masters programmes are intended to equip students with knowledge, skills and competences so that they are to be effective and efficient in their respective areas of specializations. In this regard students are expected to undergo rigorous training that will cut across among others assignments, practicals, research projects and case studies to mention but a few. The programmes to be offered are as listed here under:

 

2.1 THE LL.M PROGRAMME These programmes are intensive programmes designed to last for one academic year (12 months). They consist of coursework followed by research leading to Advanced Research Paper.

 

  1. General Requirements (i) Holders of the degree Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Ruaha

Catholic University (RUCU) or the then Ruaha University College (RUCO) OR any other recognized University.

(ii) A GPA of at least 3.0 and above.

 

(i) Holders of the degree of Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) or the then Ruaha University College (RUCO) OR any other recognized University with a GPA of

between 2.6 and 2.9

  • Work experience or field attachment in any field of law for at least three (3) years.
  • Additional consideration will be given to candidates who have done further training, research or writing on an area of law.

Successful applicants will pursue the LL.M degree course in any of the following specialisations:

  1. M in Human Rights Law (12 months)
  2. M in Trade and Finance Law (12 months)
  3. M in Finance and Banking

Law (12 months)

 

2.2                 THE                   MASTERS 

PROGRAMMES      IN         BUSINESS

STUDIES:

Masters   Programmes in      the Faculty      of      Business           and Management Sciences for    the academic year / consist of the following:

  • Masters of Business Administration in Human

Resource   Management (MBA-

HRM) (18 Months)

  • Masters of      Business

Administration in Accounting and   Finance (MBA-A/F) (18 Months)

  • Masters of Procurement and Logistics (MPL) (18 Months)
  • Masters of      International

Investment                       Management

(MIIM)(24 Months)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Applicants should be holders of undergraduate degrees in any of the following: Procurement and Supply chain Management or Bachelor of Business

Administration (BBA) or Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance (BEF) or Bachelor of

Accounting and Finance with Information Technology (BAFIT) or any other relevant undergraduate programme. The GPA in any of the above awards should be 2.7 and above. Applicants with professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CSP or PSPTB plus one year or more of work experience, provided that they completed form six will be considered on their own Merit.

 

2.3 MASTERS  PROGRAMMES IN EDUCATION STUDIES:

Programmes in this sector are designed to meet among other things:

  • The candidates’ personal and professional goals in the education sector.
  • The development of high quality educational managers and administrators needed for the provision of high quality education in Tanzania.
  • The provision of well grounded linguistics able to sail with the current developments in the subject.

Masters programmes in this sector are:

Masters   in      Education        in Curriculum          and Instruction (MECI) (18 Months)

Masters in Education in Planning and Administration (MEPA) (18 Months)

Masters of Linguistics (MALI) (18

Months)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

The applicant should have:  (i)  A first degree in Education with a GPA of 3.0 and above for applicants fresh from a University OR

  • A Bachelor’s degree with GPA of 2.7 and above in any other discipline with a postgraduate diploma in education or its equivalent from a recognized institution of higher learning with a teaching experience of two years and above may be

considered OR

  • A first degree in Linguistics with a GPA of 3.0 and above for applicants fresh from University OR
  • A first degree in Linguistics with a GPA between 2.7 and 2.9 with a working experience of not less than 2 years in the teaching carrier.

 

  1. PhD PROGRAMMES:

The provision of PhD programmes at the respective Faculties is such that they are to respond to challenges of managing organizations in Tanzania at the same time addressing the high demand of professionals in the various disciplines. We are in the era of globalization and information technology whose challenges are to get answers through research by the study of complex organizations.

 

The PhD programmes for the academic year / are listed as follows:

  1. PhD in Law – By Thesis (3-5) years
  2. PhD in Management –       By

Thesis (3-5) years

  1. PhD in      Mathematics –       By

Thesis (3-5) years

  1. PhD in Computer Science – By Thesis (3-5) years

 

The following shall be eligible for the registration of a PhD programme:

  • A holder      of      the   Masters Programme      in      the          relevant discipline with a GPA of at least

3.5   and above       from         Ruaha Catholic        University       or Ruaha University College or any other recognized    University       or institution for applicants fresh from University or any other

Institution.

 

  • A holder of a Masters’ degree in the relevant discipline from any other recognized University or institution with a GPA of at least 3.0 and above with work experience of at least 3 years and above.
