Procedures for carrying out Pesticides business in Tanzania
According to the Plant Protection Act (1997) and Plant Protection Regulations (1999), all pesticides business require clearance from the
Office of the Registrar of Pesticides.
The commercial pesticide dealers include fumigators, Pest controllers, Retailers, Whole sellers, Importers, Formulators and Manufacturers.
Procedure for Licensing of Pesticide Dealers in Tanzania:
- Fill application form (PRC-4 & PRC 9) (Retailers and Whole sellers); PRC 4 & 8 (Fumigators); PRC 4 & 10 (Manufacturers, Repackers and Formulators) and Application for Importers (for Pesticide Importers)
- Submit to the Registrar Business License, Registration certificate for Company, TIN Certificate (Optional) and Technical Staff Academic Certificate.
- Inspection of premises for human safety, Staff competence, location , safety gears, equipment used etc
- Award of Invoice for successful applicant.
- Payment of fees.
- Permit Award.
Fee to be paid by Pesticide Dealers are:
- Application forms 10 USD (PRC 4 & 9); $ 40 (PRC 4 & 8).
- Pre-business $50 (only once) for Retailers and Fumigators.
- Annual fee (Renewable) of $ 25 for Retailers/ Wholesalers; $ 50 for Fumigators and Pest Controllers; $ 100 for Pesticide Manufacturers, Repackers
and I$ 150 for Importers.
Note:
After payment of Fees a Permit is Granted (Renewable annually).
Manufacture/Formulation of Pesticides
PROCEDURE – SUBMIT TO THE REGISTRAR THE FOLLOWING
- Dully Fill (Application forms (PRC-10)
- Certified Copy of Academic
- Certificate of the technical staff.
- Factory registration certificate and business license and TIN Certificate (Optional)
- Sample to be manufactured/ formulated.
- Environmental impact assessment report from the National.
- Environment Management Council
- If you are not the Registrant (owner) of the product, submit a duly signed, stamped and sealed letter
of authorization from the Registrant.
