Application for admission to Postgraduate, Bachelor’s, undergraduate, Master’s degree, diploma, certificates programmes at Lesotho Agricultural College (LCA):
To use the Online Application System you will need internet access, as well as an email address that you can access regularly, because as soon as you submit your online application, a student number (EMPLID) will be sent to this email address as confirmation of receipt. Check the list of closing dates supplied below to make sure that you submit your application on time.
Minimum Admission Requirements
In order to be considered for provisional admission in any of the five Diploma programmes offered by the Lesotho Agricultural College namely, Home Economics, Home Economics Education, Agriculture, Agricultural Education, Forestry and Resources Management, prospective candidates must possess at least one of the following categories of qualification:-
Diploma in Home Economics and Home Economics Education
- COSC/LGSCE or any international qualification approved by Lesotho Qualifications Authority (LEQA), with a grade not exceeding seven (7/D) in English Language and Mathematics and a Credit (C) and above in any two of the approved science subjects (approved science subjects include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physical Science. A grade C or above in Combined Science, Additional Combined Science, Food and Nutrition, and Fashion and Fabrics may be considered.
- Certificate in Home Economics, with a Credit pass obtained at LAC and a credit (c) in mathematics for entry into 2nd year of study but will be required to take 1st year Biochemistry.
- Certificate in Home Economics, with a Credit pass obtained at LAC, having a Pass in Mathematics will be allowed an entry into 2nd year but required to take 1st year Mathematics and Biochemistry.
- Certificate in Home Economics, with a pass obtained at LAC for entry into 1st year of study.
- Advanced certificate in Home Science/Consumer science with at least credit pass into 1st year of study.
Diploma in Agriculture and Agricultural Education:
- COSC/LGSCE or any international qualification approved by Lesotho Qualifications Authority (LEQA), with a grade not exceeding seven (7/D) in English Language and Mathematics and a credit (C) in any two of the approved science subjects (approved science subjects include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Agriculture). A credit (C) or above in Combined Science and Additional Combined Science may be considered.
- Certificate in Agriculture or Agricultural Mechanization with a Credit pass obtained at LAC and a credit (c) in Mathematics for entry into 2nd year of study.
- Certificate in Agriculture or Agricultural Mechanization, with a Credit pass obtained at LAC having a Pass in Mathematics will be allowed an entry into 2nd year but required to take 1st year Mathematics.
Diploma in Forestry and Resource Management:
COSC/LGSCE or any international qualification approved by Lesotho Qualifications Authority (LEQA), with a grade not exceeding seven (7/D) in English Language and Mathematics and a credit (C) in any two of the approved science subjects (approved science subjects include Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Agriculture/Geography). A credit (C) or above in Combined Science and Additional Combined Science may be considered.
Diploma in Agricultural Engineering, Land and Water Management:
COSC/LGSCE or any international qualification approved by Lesotho Qualifications Authority (LEQA), with a grade not exceeding seven (7/D) in English Language and a credit (C) and above in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Physical science. A credit in Design and Technology and Biology/Agriculture is an added advantage.
NB:
- Admission into 2nd year of any programme will depend on availability of space.
- All students who are admitted into first year of study shall attend a 8 week payable and examinable Pre-entry Course.
- Confirmation of admission will only be grated upon the release of the pre-entry results.
